Say What?

So, bloglandia is in uproar over the news that HarperCollins wants to change the license terms. From 7th March  a book can get checked out 26 times, before the library has to buy a new copy.  I suspect that HarperCollins is  under the delusion that libraries means lost sales.  That is wrong. Oh so wrong.
I signed up for a out-of-state library card from Philadelphia Free Library in September. It didn't take long before I was hooked on The Bishop Series by  Kay Hooper.
That I didn't realise until later that  I had read the last book in the Blood Triology first is another thing. The important part is that I bought the rest of the books in her Bishop Series. All 12 of them. Also, I got  her Quinn novels too.  I wouldn't have done that if I hadn't gotten that first book from the library.

That's what publishers are forgetting.  In many cases,  library books spurs sales, just like samples does.
